A mug turns your artwork into something you pick up every day. A centered subject or a simple repeat works better than tiny lettering or a detailed panoramic scene. Check how the image fits the printable area instead of assuming it covers the entire mug.

Returns

Each item is made from your own image, so change-of-mind returns are not offered once production starts. A print fault or damage in shipping is covered, as above. Shipping and returns

Prepare your image

Use the original file, not a screenshot. Sizes at 300 dpi or more are graded Sharpest; 140–300 dpi prints well; under 140 dpi a size cannot be chosen. Keep faces and lettering away from the edges. Prepare your artwork

Art on mug printing, made from your own work: a painting, drawing or painted miniature on a white ceramic mug, made to order.

Art on mug: what fits the print area

A mug turns your artwork into something you pick up every day. A centered subject or a simple repeat works better than tiny lettering or a detailed panoramic scene. Check how the image fits the printable area instead of assuming it covers the entire mug.

Choosing the figure for a mug

Pick the model you’d like to see every morning, which isn’t always your best one. The mug is about 3.7 in tall and the print wraps the body, not the handle, so the figure has to read at that height. A spear held out to one side can curve out of view around the mug.

Figures that tend to suit it:

  • A bust, or a hero cropped from the knees up, so the face fills most of the height.
  • A monster with a compact pose, such as a crouching beast or a squat ogre.
  • The mascot that lives on your painting desk, photographed on light card so it sits cleanly on the white ceramic.

Mug or water bottle

Both come in one size and both print one image. The mug is 11 oz and stays by the painting station. The water bottle holds 17 fl oz (500 mL), stands about 10.4 in tall in white stainless steel, and goes to game night in a bag. A tall, upright figure suits the bottle’s front panel. A compact, centered figure suits the mug.

How a painted figure prints on a mug

A single figure, centered and cropped close, reads best on the curve of a mug. Skip wide group shots, which wrap out of view. Plain white or light card behind the model blends into the white ceramic, so the figure looks printed straight onto the mug.

Start with the image

Upload a JPEG, PNG, or WebP up to 10 MB. You must own the image or have permission to reproduce it. Your original artwork can go straight to the product selector, unchanged. If you start with a painted miniature, the optional scene studio lets you explore a different setting first.

Check before you order

The selector shows available sizes, finishes, and USD prices, and checks your image resolution. Pick a product to inspect the crop. Compare every size and price, or read our file preparation notes.

Mugs: questions and answers

Can I use my existing artwork as it is?

Yes. Choose “Print as it is” and your image is used for mugs exactly as you upload it, with no restyling.

Where are the sizes and prices?

The product selector and the products page show current availability and USD prices for mugs. Any mugs size that does not meet the upload resolution check cannot be selected.

Can I put a photo of my painted miniature on a mug?

Brush & Paint puts a photo of your painted miniature on an 11 oz white ceramic mug, made to order for you. The print wraps the body but not the handle, so a figure cropped close and centered reads best. Order the photo unchanged or with the figure placed in a new setting you preview first; the price shows on this page, and shipping is calculated at checkout for your US address.
