What to check before you print artwork on canvas
Canvas brings texture and depth to paintings and character scenes. Keep faces, signatures and lettering away from the edges: the image needs room for its wrap. Check the selected product crop before adding it to your cart.
Sizes, and which shape fits
There are four canvas sizes: 11.8 x 15.7 in (30x40 cm), 15.7 x 19.7 in (40x50 cm), 19.7 x 27.6 in (50x70 cm) and 23.6 x 31.5 in (60x80 cm). Match the shape of your picture before you match the wall. A picture 12 in tall and 9 in wide has the same 3 to 4 shape as the 11.8 x 15.7 in (30x40 cm) and 23.6 x 31.5 in (60x80 cm) canvases, and a 16 x 20 in picture has the 4 to 5 shape of the 15.7 x 19.7 in (40x50 cm). Any other shape is trimmed along two edges, and the crop preview shows where before you pay.
What happens at the edges
Your picture is not folded over the sides of the canvas. We fill the sides from a blurred, scaled-up copy of the picture, so the front shows the whole crop you checked. Keep faces, signatures and lettering well away from the border, and use the crop preview to check.
How to turn a photo or a painting into a canvas print
Upload the picture through Print your original artwork, choose canvas, pick a size and look at the crop. The upload withdraws any size your file is too small to print sharply, so a size you can choose is a size the file supports. This page is the canvas without a frame. If you would rather have a black wooden frame, the framed canvas comes in three sizes, up to 15.7 x 19.7 in (40 x 50 cm).
How a painted figure prints on canvas
The canvas weave adds a light texture that suits painted miniatures and fantasy scenes. Keep the face and weapons well inside the edge, since the sides are filled from a blurred copy of the picture. A figure in a scene from the studio fills the larger sizes better than a single model on card.
