How custom wood prints change your image
Wood adds a material character that becomes part of the image. Pale areas allow more of the surface to show through, so choose it when a warmer result suits your work. For a more neutral background, compare the paper options instead.
Where the grain shows on your figure
On a wood print the grain comes through the pale parts of the picture, and that includes the pale parts of the model itself. A white cloak, bleached bone, pale skin or bright silver will all carry the wood’s texture. Deep reds, dark leather and black armor stay solid.
So before you upload, look at where your brightest highlights sit. If they’re on the face, the grain will cross the face. That can suit a weathered ranger or a wooden golem. If you want a clean, bright face, a metal print has a white-coated surface instead.

The side of the panel shows its layers. It’s 3/8 in (10 mm) plywood, and that edge is part of the look when the print hangs.
How a painted figure prints on wood
A figure photographed against dark card prints best on wood, because the dark background keeps the grain out of the frame and leaves the model to carry the color. Earthy schemes, leather, bone and bronze sit naturally on the panel, while white card lets the wood show through.
